All About Blogging (Post # 1)

What is a "Blog"?

A blog is an array of things. It can be classified as a diary, a place to post breaking news, and even private thoughts. A blog is a web site where you post information on an ongoing basis.

History of Blogging:

The term "weblog" was created by Jorn Barger on December 17, 1997. The short form, "blog," was created by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in 1999. Shortly after, Evan Williams used "blog" as both a noun and verb ("to blog," meaning "to edit one's weblog or to post to one's weblog") and devised the term "blogger" which made the terms popular.

Types of Blogs:
  • Personal Blog
The personal blog, an ongoing diary or commentary by an individual, is the traditional, most common blog.
  • Corporate and Organizational Blog
Corporate Blogs enhance the communication and culture in a corporation or externally for marketing, branding or public relations purposes. Organizational Blogs typically inform members and other interested parties of club and member activities.
  • Genre Blogs
Some blogs focus on a particular subject, such as political blogs, travel blogs, gardening blogs, house blogs, fashion blogs, project blogs, education blogs, niche blogs, classical music blogs, quizzing blogs and legal blogs. Two common types of genre blogs are art blogs and music blogs.

Conclusion:

Blogging is something that I am very interested in. I think that it is a phenomenal way to communicate with my teacher, as well as my peers.
